Spring Break 2005 Wrap Up
By: Anthony Christoffels
April 10, 2005 --
For spring break this year, the University
Lutheran Center decided to team up with United Campus Ministries
(UCM) and do a habitat for humanity trip. The location was
decided on Olympia, Washington. So Anthony Christoffels, Jake
Erickson, Lindsey Robertson, Matt Skoy and Pastor Darin joined
up with three students from UCM and their leader to drive out to
Washington.
On the way out to Olympia, we stopped in
Bozeman, MT to go skiing for the day at Bridger Bowl. Some of
us had never skiied before while others (Pastor Darin) were
professionals. We all had a lot of fun.
When we got to the work site, we had to
fill in a very large hole with dirt to help with drainage, dig
and place post holes for a privacy fence, form up a driveway and
lay concrete, put door knobs on, sand plaster smooth inside, and
paint the interior.
With all of the work that we did, we still
managed to go site seeing to Mt. Rainier, go sailing, and visit
Seattle’s fish market and Space Needle.
Over the course of the trip everyone got to
know everyone else. This trip was both fun and challenging. We
are already talking about spring break 2006 and are looking into
another habitat for humanity trip. |
