Spring LSM Tri-Ota Retreat Wrap Up
By: Anthony Christoffels, and Ashley Kristjanson
May 2, 2005 --
On Friday April 1 Pastor Darin and two students from the
University Lutheran Center, Anthony Christoffels and Ashley
Kristjanson went to Outlaw Ranch in Custer, South Dakota for the
Lutheran Student Movement (LSM) Tri-Ota Regional Retreat. We
took a fifteen passenger van and teamed up with nine people from
MSUM’s Lutheran Campus Ministry including their pastor.
We started the retreat on Saturday morning with a plenary
session. We discussed the different roles of the board and what
they have done these past few months and their plans for the
future. There were also state meetings in which we discussed
how to get connected with other campus ministries across the
state. We also talked about ways to connect with Christian
organizations on our own campuses.
While on the retreat we did a service project for Outlaw
Ranch in which we picked up the branches that were cut down to
help with their drought.
One way we raised money for LSM was to have an auction. The
auction consisted of bidding on the board members. The campus
that won the board member gets to make them do whatever they
want at the fall retreat. NDSU won Allison Stoltz from MSUM,
the secretary of the Tri-Ota region. From this auction we
raised $928.
For our entertainment of the weekend, we had a Lutheran
version of Saturday Night Live. One thing we did was a
three-headed bible story in which three contestants told a bible
story using only one word per person. We also had a dinner
party where the host invited three people. Each contestant
portrayed a person from the bible and the host had to guess who
each contestant was.
We are extremely ecstatic for the Fall LSM Retreat which will
be held near Alexandria, Minnesota November 4-6. |
