April 10, 2005 --
On Friday, November 5, Pastor Darin and six students from the
University Lutheran Center, Marissa Paulson, Anthony
Christoffels, Ashley Kristjanson, Evie Andrus, Daniel Eiler, and
Sara Locken, went to Red Willow Bible Camp for the Lutheran
Student Movement (LSM) Tri-Ota Region Fall Retreat. We took two
cars and each took a different route there but all ended up
together at the right place. It ended up being an interesting
and bonding road trip for each of us.
At the retreat, there were other Lutheran Campus Ministries
from South Dakota, Minnesota, and North Dakota. We had meetings
that informed us of what LSM is all about and also what we could
do to strengthen ministry at the college campuses.
Our small group focus was on evangelism. One idea we came up
with to strengthen our ministry was to plan activities with our
denominations. We also learned how to talk about and express
our faith around others. Other ideas were shared and
friendships were made during meetings and free time. During our
free time, we sang worship songs, played games such as carpet
ball, and enjoyed the outdoors. We wanted to get more involved
with LSM. Two leadership positions were filled with individuals
from NDSU. Evie Andrus was elected North Dakota State
Representative for LSM and is very excited about the position.
Pastor Darin was elected LSM Regional Advisor for a two year
term in the Tri-Ota region.
We also heard more about what is going to be taking place at
the National Gathering in Houston, Texas, December 29, 2004 to
January 2, 2005. A total of seven students will be attending
with Pastor Darin and his wife Angie.
We are also looking forward to the Spring Tri-Ota Retreat at
the School of Mines in South Dakota in April of 2005. |
