Saying Goodbye to a Close Friend!By: Anthony ChristoffelsOctober 16, 2005 -- Well as part of a campus ministry we should all know that people are always coming and going. However, there are certain individuals that come along that touch our lives in remarkable ways. Evie Andrus was one of these certain individuals. She became very active at the University Lutheran Center last year and always has a lot of energy and passion for the ULC. She helped our ministry grow in so many ways that we cannot even begin to count all of them. Then just barely starting the semester, Evie announced that she was dropping out of school and moving to Tennessee. Evie has moved back home until December to work and then she is going to moving to Tennessee to pursue her career dream of Bluegrass Music. Next fall she plans on starting school in Tennessee. The students at the ULC decided that we needed to formally wish Evie goodbye, and so on September 11th we did just that. We held a going away party for Evie and we had about forty to fifty people come wish Evie goodbye. To top it all off, the students pitched in and gave Evie a picture frame with the poem “Just Think” inside of it. The poem fit Evie perfectly and explained exactly what she meant to this ministry. I don’t know why it was so hard to say goodbye to Evie. We are in a campus ministry and every year we have people come and we have people leave. College is usually only four years, but when a person has a big impact on our campus ministry like Evie, it is hard. Evie, we miss you greatly here at the ULC and wish you the best of luck in your future!!
